Cedar Rapids Concrete Foundations

professional concrete foundation services
Like anything in life, building strong foundations is crucial when it comes to building a new house. Your concrete foundations will serve to safely and evenly spread the weight of a structure, and helps in preventing the subsoil from shifting out of place. Were this to happen you could suffer an unequal settlement of your new building, which would lead to structural issues in the future. As you can see, mistakes at this stage could prove incredibly costly. That’s why it is so important to get our experienced professionals to examine and install any new concrete foundations that you require. From excavation to pouring concrete, we’ve handled hundreds of projects like this.

T-Shaped Foundation
There are a number of variations when it comes to concrete foundations. These will largely depend on the purpose of the slab. We have spent years building up an understanding of concrete foundations which we can impart to our customers. A T-shaped foundation is a traditional method to support a building where the ground has frozen or will freeze. The footing in this instance is much wider than the wall, allowing for extra support at the bottom of the concrete foundation. Once this t-shape foundation has been placed, our expert team can help construct the walls.

Slab-on-Grade Foundation
This type of foundation is exactly what is said on the tin! A ‘slab’ is a single layer of concrete which is several inches thick. We would normally place a slab like this on a bed of crushed gravel so as to improve the drainage in cases of rainfall. Whilst this type of foundation is better suited to ground that does not freeze, if can also be installed with insulation. Are you unsure whether this type of foundation is right for you? Call one of our experts today and we will be able to advise you as to the appropriate next steps.

Frost Protected Foundation
This method can only be undertaken when working with a heated structure. It is an approach to concrete foundations which uses two sheets of polystyrene insulation to prevent freezing. The exact science is something that our experts are well versed in, but in simple terms the insulation holds heat from the structure in the ground under the footings, preventing heat loss from the slab. This will guarantee that your ground temperature is warm in instances where there would otherwise be freezing.

Preparation
There are a number of important decisions to be made before you undertake such an important part of your construction project. Before we begin installing the foundations to your new property, we will help you determine what will happen to the spoil. We can provide you with a dumper truck or lorries that can make multiple trips to somewhere in which the spoil can be dumped. Another decision that we will assist you in making is whether the concrete will be loaded directly into trenches or you will require a pump. If you are unsure, all of these questions can be answered by our professionals.
